HBS: New Website - Penetration Testing and Security Consulting;
Highlights Top Security Threats for 2013

by High Bit Security on January 9, 2013 www.HighBitSecurity.com

Rochester MI: High Bit Security LLC celebrated the New Year by launching a new and dramatically different website, focused on penetration testing, social engineering and security consulting to thwart the latest cyber security threats. "Georgia Institute of Technology has identified their top security threats for 2013 ," said High Bit Security COO, Adam Goslin. These include Information Manipulation via Automated Information Systems, Insecurity of the Supply Chain, Mobil Malware, Security in the Cloud, Malware, and implementation of Electronic Medical Records. The complete study is linked on the new High Bit Security website (www.HighBitSecurity.com) along with information on how High Bit Security addresses these types of issues.

The goal of the new site is not just to feature High Bit,s suite of services, but also to prompt serious thought about the security of each visitor,s own organization. IT Security and the need to protect sensitive data is a topic that has been receiving a great deal of media attention. "Unfortunately, the trend of very public media stories about breaches are certain to continue, as most companies have no idea how insecure they are," said Goslin.

"Security by obscurity," said High Bit Security Chief Business Development Officer, Barbara Goushaw, "simply doesn,t work. It,s not if you will experience a breach, but when. A relatively small investment to prevent a security breach can save companies a fortune in after-the-fact costs. Communicating this was the first challenge of creation with the new site. We wanted to generate a sense of urgency. Securing sensitive data should be the first priority of every organization. If you don,t regularly validate your security stance, it,s a only a matter of time until your information - client records, employee data, and proprietary information - is compromised, copied, and probably sold, by cyber-thieves."

Penetration testing (aka IT Security Testing) is widely recognized as the best way to determine the changes needed to improve the security of the network and application layers of an organization. Penetration Testing is one of two High Bit core competencies. "The new site provides extensive information on the pen testing process" said Goushaw. "We wanted to help visitors understand the depth of our testing processes, and what we do."

High Bit Security has also built a strong following in the payment card industry. "We provide PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) and PA-DSS (Payment Application Data Security Standard) consulting" stated High Bit Security COO, Adam Goslin. "PCI is the strongest security standard today, outside of the Department of Defense. PCI Compliance is required, at some level, for all organizations that accept credit cards. Organizations that are facing compliance benefit greatly from assistance preparing for their audit. PA-DSS compliance is required for companies who create payment applications that are sold to those processing credit cards, and they also benefit from our consulting solutions. High Bit Security helps customers through their compliance objectives in a manner that suits their requirements, yet remains conscious of their budget requirements."

The Georgia Tech Study will be featured in the new website,s IT Security News Section. "This section will be updated, based upon our daily security news feeds," said Goushaw. "We will update it with interesting breach information and current threats, where visitors can read the full story about companies that have lost data, and learn about the newest virus or malware lurking in a phishing scam or suspect websites. I expect this to be a popular section, because the stories are always interesting. Hopefully visitors will take away the lesson that the stories are not just about some other guy. Their company could be next, and High Bit Security is here to help - without breaking the bank."
